NEW HERE?

WELCOME

Thanks for checking us out—we’re glad you’re here! We'd love to have you come to one of our in-person meetings, which are open to anyone and everyone. River City is a church that exists to change the world for Jesus one person at a time.  Everything we do is driven by this vision. We want to see people saved by Jesus Christ, grow in their faith, and change the world around them.  We believe the optimal atmosphere for growth is alongside others. We value authentic relationships and love to see people serve, connect, grow, and disciple others.
This section will help you find out more about River City Church’s values, vision, beliefs, and what to expect at a weekend service.
Next Steps will help you discover how to move forward in your relationship with God at River City.  Student Ministries will give you the lowdown on the next generation's impact here through Children, Youth, and Young Adults.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A typical meeting (church term: service) includes a time of music with a band to lift our spirits and get us focused on Jesus (church term: worship), and someone sharing a helpful, challenging message (church term: sermon) from the Bible.  There's also time before and after the service to chat and get to know each other.

People from all different backgrounds and life stories love coming here—kids too—and there’s usually anywhere from 100-300 people at each service. It’s a laid back, accepting environment, perfect for learning about Jesus and the amazing life He has for us.

KIDS (Infant - 6th grade)

Our number one priority with kids is to keep them all safe. With that in mind, children who will be attending Kids Church (church term: Kid City) need to be checked in when you arrive at the building. The check-in kiosk is found along the left just inside the Foyer. You’ll need to let us know about allergies, medical conditions, and any other important information. We also have a trained team of teachers that can assist with kids with disabilities, so be sure to ask. Assisted check-in is available 15 minutes prior to the start of the service through to the service start.

Babies will remain in the main building in our nursery, which is right outside the Auditorium doors.  Preschool through 6th graders will meet one of our trained Kid City Team Members in the foyer and follow them to their classroom.  Our kids are grouped according to age to keep the content relevant, so you can rest assured they are having fun and learning. After the service you can pick up your Preschool thru 6th graders right outside the door of our lower building at the bottom of the path (all within the boundaries of our fenced-in yard and playground).

THE BASICS

The formal part of a Sunday lasts about 60-75 minutes. Lots of people come early and stay late.

If you’re worried about what to wear, don’t be! Come however you feel comfortable — whether shorts and sandals, or shirt and tie or dress; it’s all good.

As you’re coming in, a greeter will welcome you with a smile. Ushers are available to help you get your children signed in for Kid City (if you’ve brought children) and help you find your way around. You can also visit the Next Steps Table if you have any questions.

Note:  On special occasions (such as Christmas or summer months) our Weekend Service Schedule may be adjusted to allow for a single service.  Please check out our Events Calendar to confirm.

LOCATION & PARKING

You can find our building at 2102 8th Street in Lewiston, Idaho, directly behind (west of) Fingerprints Children's Center.

Parking: It’s best to park in the lower parking lot on the east and south side of the building. Visitor and wheelchair-accessible parking is close to the gate entrance on the south side of the building.  We also have an upper parking lot available with a parking team that can pick you up at your car and drive you closer to the building entrance.

HOW A SUNDAY GOES

Kids will head to their classes and the adults will be in the main auditorium.

MUSIC

Things get started with some live music (church term: worship) to celebrate and remember what God has done for us. It’s not exactly a quiet affair, with guitars, drums and other instruments, but we keep the volume safe.

If you’ve been to other similar churches, you’ll recognize songs from artists like Hillsong, Jesus Culture, Elevation, Passion, etc. (You can YouTube them if you’d like samples.) We also do a lot of songs we've written in house. Regardless of the song, worship is intended to take our attention off the distractions of life and focus on God.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND GIVING

There’s usually a few minutes of announcements to let everyone know what’s going on in the River City Church community. During the announcements, we give instructions for people that would like to give to River City and its outreach programs, but there’s absolutely, positively no obligation for you to do so.

THE MESSAGE

Next up is the speaker for the day. Most Sundays the speaker is one of the pastors or leaders at River City, but we mix in guests, too. Our goal is that our weekend messages are solid and biblical, yet very relevant, clear, and understandable whether you have church experience or not. We usually put the Bible quotes up on the screen, so it’s okay if you don’t have your own Bible (if you’d like a great free one for your phone, click HERE). The men and women who speak are always engaging and authentic.

PRAYER & MEETING THE PASTOR

At the end of the message there’s usually an opportunity to have someone pray for you, if you’d like. If you want to respond to what was spoken in the message or if you have any particular need, come on up. Over and over again we’ve seen God is faithful to answer our prayers.

You are always more than welcome to come and talk to the speaker or any other leaders if you have questions or would just like to chat.

AFFILIATION

River City is affiliated with Life Links International.  LifeLinks is a relational-based family of churches with a broad Statement of Faith that focuses on the essentials of Christianity rather than areas of controversy. LifeLinks believes a healthy relational foundation allows people with minor doctrinal differences to work well together in advancing God’s Kingdom.  LifeLinks as a Network provides input, support, apostolic oversight, and relational accountability.

LifeLinks provides two annual gatherings (Life Links Camp in Hungry Horse Montana and the Leadership Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba) to help deepen relationships and connection throughout the network.
